🛑 Protect the Whitefish Chain from Starry Stonewort!
WAPOA has purchased a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to strengthen early detection and management of starry stonewort and other aquatic invasive species on the Whitefish Chain. Ongoing fundraising now supports ROV use and maintenance, along with diver services, starry stonewort management, and future AIS prevention and response efforts—helping ensure faster, safer, and more effective protection of our lakes.
Since 1970, we have led the effort to permanently protect the land and water on and around the Whitefish Chain of Lakes in central Minnesota.

Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention
One of the primary goals for WAPOA is the prevention of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in our lakes. Over the last decade WAPOA has spent over $400,000 to provide additional hours of inspections at boat landings on the Whitefish Chain. In 2025, we spent over $80,000 for AIS prevention and inspections. All of this is made possible by your membership dues and generous donations.
